PBHL-S120: Introduction To Community Health Behavior Change Project

This artifact is a Behavior Change Project completed in PBHL-S120. The project involved setting a personal health goal and tracking progress over time while applying behavior change theories such as the Health Belief Model and Theory of Planned Behavior.

What I learned

I chose this assignment because it allowed me to apply behavior change theories to my own life, specifically through developing a consistent yoga routine. This project helped me understand how difficult behavior change can be, even with strong motivation.

Through tracking my progress, I identified barriers such as time constraints and inconsistency, and I learned how factors like self-efficacy, motivation, and perceived barriers influence behavior change. Behavior change is a key focus in public health because improving health outcomes often depends on individuals adopting healthier behaviors.

This assignment is meaningful to me because it helped me build self-discipline and develop a deeper understanding of the challenges patients face when trying to change their behaviors. It also strengthened my ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world situations, which will be important in my future career in healthcare administration.
